Election Cycle Data Project
The Alliance for Youth Action, in conjunction with its sister organization the Alliance for Youth Organizing, is looking for a Data Contractor to provide support to a network of local affiliate organizations with VAN and texting/calling platforms, including administration, basic training, and technical assistance to implement volunteer and voter engagement work. We anticipate this project lasting through the middle to the end of November 2020.
About the Alliance
The Alliance convenes, supports, and scales a national network of youth-led, locally rooted organizations growing civic engagement and social justice coast to coast. We are a multiracial network “of young people, by young people, for all people.” Our network organizations run massive voter registration and get-out-the-vote drives, train new young leaders, and run powerful campaigns to win on the progressive issues our generation cares about most.
Scope of Work
The scope of this contract will focus primarily on:
— Providing technical support to affiliated organizations managing volunteer and voter contact tools (e.g. VAN, ThruText, Hustle, ThruTalk, etc.)
— Train and instruct local affiliate staff to implement data processes to track volunteer and voter engagement (e.g. closing shifts, p2p text campaign cleanups, etc.)
— Coordinate with national and affiliate staff to identify and resolve data issues
We anticipate that a contractor with applicable experience will meet some, though not necessarily all, of the following criteria:
— Have previous political and/or organizing experience (not necessarily in a data role)
— Have experience using Google Sheets/Microsoft Excel (e.g. formulas like sum and count) and/or basic administration of tools like VAN, ThruText, Hustle, or ThruTalk (e.g. creating recurring events, loading lists, creating campaigns, etc.)
— Is a self-starter and detail-oriented
— Likes finding solutions to complicated problems
— Knows when to answer the question someone meant to ask rather than the one they did
— Can manage several tasks/projects concurrently and prioritize work effectively
The contractor will not be required to travel and can be based anywhere in the United States. The scope of work for the contractor will fluctuate based on affiliate needs, and may require the contractor’s efforts to be performed outside of normal business hours or on weekends. Distinct tasks falling under the scope of work of this project will be delegated to the contractor by national and affiliate staff with a desired completion date which will be confirmed by the contractor. The contractor will need to provide their own computer and is responsible for any income and self-employment taxes.
