WASHINGTON – Today, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal (WA-07) introduced the College for All Act of 2021 to make public colleges and universities tuition-free for working families and to significantly reduce student debt.

Sarah Audelo, Executive Director of the Alliance for Youth Action, issued the following statement in response:

“The College for All Act is the kind of bold and overdue policy that youth organizers in the Alliance for Youth Action network have been on the forefront of fighting for across the country,” said Sarah Audelo, Executive Director of the Alliance for Youth Action. “Education should be considered a public good. While all costs related to attending college should be free, free tuition for working families is an important step towards reaching that vision. We applaud Senator Sanders’ and Congresswoman Jayapal’s bill that will be instrumental in helping young people – especially young people of color – have a path to upward economic mobility.”
