Alliance for Youth Action Statement on First Presidential Debate

WASHINGTON – Dakota Hall, Executive Director for the Alliance for Youth Action released the following statement on tonight’s presidential debate:

Tonight’s debate was a national disgrace. Instead of seizing the opportunity to present their visions for this country, the candidates engaged in a disappointing display of bickering about golf swings and handicaps. Young people are seeking bold plans for their future, plans that address the economy, tackle environment and climate challenges, ensure access to high-quality public education and public universities, and safeguard their health care and reproductive freedoms. Both candidates failed us tonight. We deserve, we need, leaders who are serious about addressing the real issues that matter to young people, not distractions and petty arguments.

Our future is not a game, it’s time for action.
