Alliance for Youth Action Statement on Today’s SCOTUS Decision on Mifepristone
WASHINGTON – This afternoon, Rudy Garrett, Vice President of Capacity Building for the Alliance for Youth Action released the following statement on this morning’s United States Supreme Court decision regarding Mifepristone.
“Today’s ruling from the Supreme Court which preserves access to a vital medication for abortion, mifepristone, is a ‘win’ for reproductive freedom, but we know that it’s really just a ‘win, for now,’” said Rudy Garrett, Vice President of Capacity Building for the Alliance for Youth Action. “This decision addressed standing, but we know there may still be further challenges coming to what we know to be true: that mifepristone is a safe and essential medicine. As we speak, the Supreme Court is considering another case which will make it even more difficult for people to access abortion care when they need it, even in a life-threatening emergency. We continue to see attacks on birth control and IVF in state legislatures and courts, a drumbeat that underscores the precarity of our rights to our own bodies.”
